The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) General Council today removed Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain from the party presidency.
The decision was made during a consultative meeting of the party held at the Pakistan Muslim League House in Lahore. The Party meeting was attended by PML-Q leaders and lawmakers belonging from Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Balochistan and Azad Kashmir.
After Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s removal, his brother Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain was appointed as Party President.
The Party officials also removed Shujaat’s close aide, Tariq Bashir Cheema, and selected Kamil Ali Agha as the Central Secretary-General of the party.
The development comes a day after Shujaat Hussain suspended the Party membership of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi for his statement about to merger with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Last year in December 2022, Reports are coming that Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi summoned a meeting of the PML-Q to mull over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s merger offer.
According to reports The senior leadership of the PML-Q and senators participated in the meeting. Some credible Sources claim that the majority of PML-Q are in favor of the PTI-Q league merger.
But in a surprise move, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain suspended the basic party membership of Pervaiz Elahi ahead of the decision to merge Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and PML-Q.
A show-cause notice was also served to Pervaiz Elahi regarding his suspension from the party.
Now today latest reports are that PML-Q Officials after having a meeting with the party leaders decided to remove Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain from the party presidency and handover the command of the Party to Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain who is the brother of Ch shujaat.
