The Punjab government is considering extending winter vacations for one more week as there’s a rise in the intensity of cold weather recorded in the province.
The winter vacations for schools are likely to be extended for one more week from 9th to 15th January on the appeal of the parents over cold weather. Remember that the provincial Government of Punjab has already extended winter vacations for a week on the orders of the Lahore High Court due to smog.

According to the notification issued by the Specialised Health Department of Punjab, the winter vacations in the medical and nursing colleges of the province have also been extended till 8th January 2023.
The vacations were supposed to end on 2nd January. The notification further said that the clinical students working on rotations will continue discharging their duties in the hospitals.
On 27th December 2022, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the extension of winter vacations for one more week amid the increasing threat of smog. The orders were passed by the LHC while hearing the petitions moved for seeking the remedy to address the smog issue.
Earlier, the Federal Ministry of Education further extended winter vacations in the educational institutions of the federal capital Islamabad.
According to the details, the winter holidays in private educational institutions in Islamabad have been further extended, and the Federal Ministry of Education has issued a notification.
According to the notification, all private educational institutes will now have holidays till the 7th of January.
Earlier in Punjab, the LHC also ordered govt of Punjab to extend winter Vacations in Lahore. Cold weather and smog are also in other cities of Punjab. So maybe Punjab Govt also extend winter Vacations in all schools and colleges in Punjab up to 9 January 2023.
Keeping the weather conditions in view Balochistan Government extended the winter vacations for 2 months for educational institutions.
