According to sources Asif Ali Zardari assured Chaudhary Shujaat that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz will not be the chief minister of Punjab in the new setup.  Meanwhile, Ch Shujaat guaranteed the former president he would talk to the Chief Minister of Punjab Parvez Elahi.

Asif Ali Zardari has begun holding consultations regarding the political situation in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a possible no-confidence motion against Punjab CM with the allies.

The Imran Khan-led PTI has been trying to force the incumbent government to conduct snap polls and has been holding talks to decide on a date for the general elections, threatening if polls are not held, it would dissolve the provincial assemblies.

Meanwhile, CM Elahi said that he did not see elections taking place in the next four months. “Elections cannot be held before four months; the federal and provincial governments need time to work and the elections may be delayed even after October next year,” he said.

Earlier, CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi advises Imran Khan to delay the dissolution of Provisional Assemblies. The development came after the Central Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former federal minister, Fawad Chaudhry held meetings with CM Pervaiz Elahi and Imran Khan.

According to the sources, Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi told Fawad Chaudhry in the meeting that PML-Q doesn’t have any objection to the dissolution of the assembly but development work is going on in the province which requires 3 months to complete.

CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi suggested delaying the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly for at least three months so that development projects to be completed and it will be a better decision.
