Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that his government will sign an agreement this month with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the ninth review.

While addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Green Line Express Train Service at the Margalla Train Station Premier said “I am hopeful that we will reach an agreement with the IMF this month and we will come out of these difficulties and then multilateral and bilateral institutions will work with us”.

Premier said Pakistan will reach an agreement with IMF regarding the ninth review of the $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) by this month. Prime Minister praised and vowed his cabinet claiming that they are working tirelessly to stabilize the economy of Pakistan.

Premier said due to less foreign exchange reserves the government developed a list of items that need to be imported based on their necessity.

He added that the list includes food and medical items.

Green Line Express Inaugration

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Railways Minister Saad Rafique on the launch of Green Line Express train.

PM Shehbaz Sharif inspected the train equipped with recently imported Chinese bogies. The train will opreate between Islamabad and Karachi.

According to Pakistan Railways, the Green Line train after starting its journey from Margalla station will have stops at Rawalpindi, Chaklala, Lahore, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Rohri, Hyderabad and Drug Road on the way. The train will be operated with new coaches imported from China recently.

On the instructions of Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq, breakfast, lunch, hi-tea and dinner will be provided to the passengers during the journey. Apart from this, high-quality bedding and utility kits will also be provided to the passengers.

Rememebr that Green Line have 230 new high-speed passenger coaches Imported from China. The new Rail coaches reached Karachi port from where they are transported to Lahore by the Karachi-Lahore.

Now as Prime Minister integrated these newly Imported coaches, the Green Line Train all set to start its operations by 27th December 2023.
