The first batch of Wheat imported from Russia by the PDM government has reached Karachi.

Ministry of National Food Security said that two ships carrying wheat arrived in Pakistan from Russia. According to officials a total of 7.5 million tonnes of wheat will be imported from Russia at the governmental level.

The officials also said that 100,000 tons of tons of wheat will reach Pakistan through Gwadar, likewise, all the ships of wheat imported from Russia will reach Pakistan by 30th March 2023. 

According to the authorities, 350,000 tons of wheat have arrived at Karachi port. Ministry of National Food Security claimed that there are 44, 37,700 metric tonnes of wheat available in stock which is sufficient to meet the country’s needs till the end of April. Besides that, 13 lac metric tonnes of wheat will be imported in addition to this.

Remember that After the Economical Crisis, Now Pakistan is facing a shortage of wheat. Pakistan’s Provinces Balochistan & Punjab run out of wheat.

After running short of wheat flour prices were also jacked up by distributors.

According to the latest reports Government claims that soon they will take over the rising prices of flour and the crisis of wheat will be normalized in Provinces as we have received wheat from Russia.

It is to be intimated that The wheat shortage in Pakistan takes place due to last year’s devastating floods.

The officials stated that right now Punjab has 22, 50, 000 metric tonnes of stock which is enough for the next 106 days while local new wheat will be cultivated in Punjab in 82 days.

Meanwhile, Sindh has 83,700 metric tonnes of wheat, which will last for 98 days. New local wheat in Sindh will arrive in 70 days.

Lastly, KP has 64,600 metric tonnes of wheat which are sufficient for 152 days. New wheat will also be available there after 96 days.
