Smith termed the league as a great tournament, which he would like to participate in in the future.
“I would love to come to play at some point. I think it looks like a really great tournament,” said Smith while responding during a Q&A session on Instagram.
Smith, who is considered one of the best batsmen in the world, has been in great form in recent years. He has been a key player for the Australian cricket team and has also played for several domestic teams around the world.
Australian opener David Warner had also earlier expressed his wish to play in the Pakistani league.
âWhen can I play?â the Australian cricketer had said while responding to an Instagram post by Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan after the latterâs side Lahore Qalandars defeated Quetta Gladiators in the recently-concluded PSL 8.
Smith has played 240 T20 matches over the course of his career with 5,150 runs at a strike rate of 127.60.
The last edition of PSL was won by Lahore Qalandars, who became the first team to win back-to-back titles.
Remember that PSL was initially a five-franchise tournament, but later, Multan Sultans joined PSL after the then chairman Sethi announced after the conclusion of the second edition that there would be a sixth team in the PCB’s flagship event, Now Pehsawar Zalmi Owner Javed Afridi hinted Sialkot and Faisalabad to be new teams that will be add in PSL.
Javed confirmed the addition of two more teams to the Pakistan Super League during a recent Facebook Q&A session.
In response to a fanâs social media question about PSL owner of the Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi recently shared some wonderful information with Pakistani cricket fans, stating that the Pakistan Super League would welcome two additional cities, Faisalabad and Sialkot, bringing the total number of clubs in the league to eight.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee chairman Najam Sethi revealed that due to enormous demand, the number of clubs in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) could be extended to ten.
âThere is immense pressure to increase the number of teams in PSL, but unfortunately, Ehsan Mani and Ramiz Raja agreed with the franchises that only six teams will play in the next two years. However, it was an eight-team project. We have to convince the franchises to include two more teams. No one will lose anything; if a franchise suffers a loss, the PCB will take responsibility,â Najam Sethi said.
Najam Sethi further continued that they were in high demand for the team and reckoned that if they are ten teams introduced they would be easily picked as they had an overwhelming interest to own the franchise in the league.
