The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) appointed Chaudhry Parvez Elahi as the party President.
According to the PTI Party notification, “Ch Pervez Illahi is hereby, designated as President [of the] Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf,” signed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. The party, on its official Twitter account, stated that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi – who has stood firm with Imran Khan and PTI since the regime change – has been appointed as the president of PTI.
In response to the appointment, Elahi thanked the PTI chief and said that “no one has respected me like Imran Khan, and we all have to work together to strengthen him”
Elahi said he was “grateful” for the trust reposed in him by the PTI chief, adding that he would continue to stand by him and strive to uphold the Constitution and the law.
Late last month, the former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader announced joining the Imran Khan-led party along with 10 of his party’s former MPAs.
Last year in December 2022, Reports are coming that Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi summoned a meeting of the PML-Q to mull over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s merger offer.
According to reports The senior leadership of the PML-Q and senators participated in the meeting. Some credible Sources claim that the majority of PML-Q are in favor of the PTI-Q league merger.
But in a surprise move, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain suspended the basic party membership of Pervaiz Elahi ahead of the decision to merge Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and PML-Q.
A show-cause notice was also served to Pervaiz Elahi regarding his suspension from the party.
Remember that The PML-Q got divided into two groups over the issue of joining hands with the PTI and PML-N. Pervaiz Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi joined hands with Imran Khan while Chaudhry Shujjat, his son Ch Salik and former federal minister in the PTI government supported the PML-N.
