Famous Private Media Channel Anchorperson Shahzeb Khanzada in his program revealed that former premier Imran khan sent a message to hold a meeting with the Army chief but the request was turned down.
The Anchor of Private Media Channel in his programme “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath” said Gen Asim told the businessmen meeting him Monday night that PTI chief Imran Khan sent him a message seeking a meeting.
The anchor, quoting unnamed sources, said that Gen Asim informed the PTI chief that it was not his job as Army chief to meet politicians.
“Gen Asim asserted that the army would neither interfere in politics nor would play any role in it,” sources told the anchor. The army chief maintained that he would not interfere in political matters and the political leadership itself should resolve its issues.
Speaking in the programme, senior anchorperson Hamid Mir said President Arif Alvi had tried to arrange a meeting between Gen Asim and Imran Khan. The army chief told the president that he wants to stay away from politics, Mir added.
Earlier PTI Senior Leader Fawad Chaudhry claimed, Imran Khan has “never made any request” personally or through his “representatives” to meet Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
While taking to Twitter Fawad writes “Chairman Imran Khan has never made any request to meet Army chief or any of his representatives likewise President has never approached Chairman PTI with any suggestion of Army Chief for meeting Shahbaz Sharif, speculations in this regard are baseless”
The tweet had come in response to journalist Kamran Khan’s claims that the army chief had told to business leaders in a meeting that he was trying to ensure that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Khan meet each other to resolve the country’s crisis.
The journalist also claimed that Khan was insistent on meeting the army chief only.
Establishment Treating me like Enemy
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan while talking to journalists said he felt that the New Military leadership and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir was treating him like an enemy.
“The establishment does not understand what politics is,” the PTI chief said while speaking to journalists in Lahore, just days after his return from Islamabad where he secured bail in three cases.
The former PM also said that if the COAS doubted his integrity so much, he should look into it personally and would find that “I am indeed innocent of any corruption”.
Former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan also said that he is ready to talk with COAS General Syed Asim Munir for the betterment of the country,
“It is very important for the army to be strong, Khan said.
He also accused Former Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa of “backstabbing” him, lamenting that the former COAS had spoken against Moscow right after he had gone there for a visit following the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war.
