The process to restore electricity is underway across the country after 12 hours major power breakdown hit Pakistan early Monday morning due to a failure in the National Grid.
Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan holds a press conference and said that Teams of engineers are working on the grid in order to come over the fault. He also claimed that electricity will be restored by 10 Pm throughout the country.

Minister said that power on limited grid stations of Islamabad and Peshawar has been restored. They said that the fault occurred in an NTDC line from Guddu to Balochistan, adding that the breakdown had disrupted the power supply across the country.
According to Sources in the power division revealed, the disconnection between the transmission line and the power plants, the frequency of power decreased, which led to a cascading effect, causing the tripping of power plants one after the other. They added that further reasons for the power failure are also being determined.
Earlier after a breakdown Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken strict notice of the situation and ordered a high-level probe. The premier has constituted a high-level committee and sought an immediate report from the energy minister.
According to the latest reports, the power supply was restored in Islamabad areas and Rawalpindi’s cantonment area after eight hours of outage.
Moreover, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) restored power to half of the feeders in the province.
In a statement, the PESCO spokesman said that “out of 123 feeders, electricity has been restored to 50 percent of the feeders,” adding that, “work of restoration of electricity on the essential feeders of Peshawar is underway.”
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Energy confirmed in a tweet that the system frequency of the national grid went down at 7:34 am on Monday, causing a widespread breakdown in the power system across Pakistan.
“System maintenance work is progressing rapidly,” assured the ministry, adding that restoration of grid stations from Warsak has begun.
It informed that a limited number of grids of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) were restored.
Remember here one thing after the Prime Minister took notice of the power outage, Energy Minister holds a press conference and said that Electricity will be restored by 10 pm.
Now reports are that 80 Percent of Electricity has been restored in the major areas of the country.
