The government has decided to shut down expensive fuel-fired power plants.
A ten-year-old cheaper alternative plan formulated by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company has been sent to the NEPRA for approval.
According to reports, NTDC also wants the closure of eleven furnace oil power plants and five other power plants that are running on imported LNG, not only this but the NTDC also recommend shutting down three power plants fuelled by imported gas and K-Electric plants based on expensive inventories.
