The journey of Team India in the T20 World Cup has hardly started since they defeated Pakistan in the nailbiting match, but the past champions are already making news of a dispute about the caliber of their meals.
The Indian Cricket team is currently in Sydney getting ready for their next Thursday match against the Netherlands. The Board of Control for Cricket in India, however, reported to the ICC even before the game that the players’ food was of subpar quality.

The post-practice meal is understood to be approximately the same for all teams, and the Indian players’ demands for hot food are not being met. The players were then obliged to order their meals online because they had no other option.
An official of the BCCI spoke to ICC to clarify their position on the issue “It’s not a boycott, for example. Although some players did purchase fruits and falafel, everyone wanted to eat lunch, so they all ate after returning to the hotel.”
“The problem is that the ICC isn’t providing any hot food after lunch. In a bilateral series, the host association is in charge of catering and they always provide hot Indian meals after a training session. But for ICC, the rule is the same for all countries,” he further added.
Reacting to claims of players being offered ‘cold food’, the ICC promised quick action on the matter. “Yes, the Indian team has told us about their issues with the food after practice. We are trying to figure it out and the issue will be sorted,” an ICC source told PTI.
Former cricketer Virender Sehwag, meanwhile, used his official Twitter account to voice his displeasure with the “sub-par” hospitality of western nations. Additionally, he claimed that compared to the bulk of those so-called developed countries, “India is far ahead” when it comes to giving hospitality of the greatest caliber.
