According to the Turkish airline’s general manager for Islamabad and the north, Ali Battal, Turkish Airlines intends to expand its operations in Pakistan to offer the best services to businessmen and the general public.
According to Battal, who was speaking at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry The airline was connecting Pakistan with various nations expanding flight operations would strengthen relations between Pakistan and Turkey on a bilateral basis.
He gave the business community the assurance that Turkish Airlines will support ICCI delegates on their international business travels and added that Pakistan and Turkey were friendly nations because they shared a common religion and culture.
At the event, ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari stated that improving commerce between Pakistan and Turkey required tight cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the significance of direct flight connections in fostering commercial and inter-human interaction and applauded Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Turkish Airlines’ initiative to sign a code-sharing agreement on the occasion of their 75th year of diplomatic relations.
“This will make it possible for travelers from Pakistan to fly from Istanbul to Europe, the UK, and the US, assisting the business community in its efforts to access these markets.”
Turkish Airlines serves 252 international destinations in 122 countries while Pakistan has no direct air linkages with Central Asia.
Bakhtawari proposed that Turkish Airlines should launch flights from Istanbul to the Central Asian states via Pakistan, which would enable Islamabad to improve trade ties with many countries. He asked Turkish Airlines to consider starting direct flights from Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi to different countries to facilitate the business community and the general public. “At least one flight in a week will help the business community to explore various potential markets for trade and exports.”
He also expressed the desire that Turkish Airlines should cooperate in improving the performance of PIA. Remember that PIA also going to restart its flight operations for Turkey. The flights will be operated to Istanbul from the Islamabad and Lahore airports.
