The PTA spokesperson confirmed that internet services had been restored throughout the country, but no instructions had been received regarding the restoration of social media platforms.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah earlier today stated that the restoration of Social media would remain suspended until those involved in violence and property damage during recent protests were apprehended.

Earlier Social Media apps including Twitter, YouTube and Facebook has reportedly started to be restored across Pakistan.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issues statement calming that services of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other apps have been restored in Pakistan after a long 5 days break following political unrest erupted after Imran Khan Arrest.

It is to be pertinent that Internet Services and Social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter have been blocked across Pakistan on 10th May. The development came after the arrest of PTI chief Imran Khan on Tuesday by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Sources within the government confirmed that social media services were temporarily blocked to avoid the propaganda.

In a statement on Saturday, the PTA had announced that internet service had been restored nationwide, but the suspension of social media apps continues, and a decision regarding their restoration is yet to be made.

However, despite the resumption of internet service, the suspension of social media apps such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram continues to generate controversy. The suspension was initially imposed by government authorities, citing concerns over the spread of misinformation and its potential impact on public order and safety.

The decision to restore social media would be taken by the Ministry of Interior, Rana Sanaullah, the PTA added.
