After the suicide blast in Peshawar’s Police Lines Mosque, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hoped that Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif would take steps for a Zarb-e-Azb-like operation against the ‘Rising Terrorism’ in the country.
While Talking to journalists inside Parliament House, the Defence Minister indicates to conduct a Zarb-e-Azb-like operation against the ‘rising terrorism’ in the country.
Defence Minister said National Security Committee (NSC) will decide on launching the operation against the terrorists in the country. “The National Security Committee is the authorized forum to take such decisions”, he added.
The Minister claimed that the Peshawar blast was ‘the same tragedy’ as the APS attack, saying that all political parties were united at the time of the APS tragedy. “Currently, the nation needs a consensus despite all the differences”, he stressed.
The Defence Minister’s statement came a day after a powerful explosion triggered by a suicide attacker in Peshawar’s Police Lines Mosque during the Zuhr prayers.
According to the latest reports Death Toll Rises to 100 with more than 240 Injured. According to Security Officials’ reports, the suicide attacker was present in the front row during the prayers when he exploded himself, injuring dozens of faithful offering Zuhr prayers. The explosion took place around 1:40 pm. As a result of the Explosion the roof of the mosque caved in.
The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the blast at a mosque in Peshawar’s Police Lines.
The latest reports are that a Rescue operation is still underway at the mosque site to retrieve the victims. Emergency has been imposed by the caretaker government of KP in Peshawar’s hospitals.
Keeping the whole situation in view Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Muhammad Azam Khan imposed a medical emergency in all hospitals of Peshawar. The interim CM also instructed rescue organizations to speed up relief activities.
After the Peshawar Mosque Suicide Attack, Government put the High Alert in sensitive cities of the country. Islamabad police have put the security of the federal capital on high alert.
According to details, the Islamabad Capital Territory police tightened security at the entry and exit points of the federal capital. Inspector General of Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan issued orders to put security on high alert in the federal capital.
Police officials instructed the citizens of Islamabad to keep important documents with them including computerized national identity cards (CNICs) besides appealing to the residents to corporate with the on-duty cops during the checking process.
Snipers and bomb disposal squads have also been deployed at important points and buildings.
