Renowned Actor, Film director & TV host Zia Mohyeddin passed away at the age of 91 on Monday in Karachi.
The family sources said Zia Mohyeddin was admitted to the hospital due to illness, where he breathed his last.
Credible sources from the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) also said Zia Mohyeddin had been admitted to the intensive-care unit of a hospital.
Zia Mohyeddin, the founder and chief executive of the NAPA, was Promoted to President last year.
The funeral prayers were offered today at Karachi Imambargah Yasrab in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Phase 4 after Zuhr. He was laid to rest at a graveyard in DHA’s Phase 8 Karachi.
Zia Mohyeddin was known for his excellent TV hosting, Broadcasting, poetry and prose recitation, Acting & theatre direction, the late British Pakistani had mentored hundreds of students.

Zia Mohyeddin is a Pakistani actor and television presenter who has had a long and illustrious career in the entertainment industry.
He is best known for his work as a narrator in the popular television series “The Lord of the Rings” and as a presenter on the BBC’s “Storyville.”
Mohyeddin has also acted in numerous films and television dramas and has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the arts. He is considered one of the most prominent and influential figures in Pakistani cultural history.
Zia Mohyeedin was Born on 20th June 1931 in Faisalabad. Mohyeddin spent his early life in Kasur and Lahore and later on trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London from 1953 to 1956.
After stage roles in Long Day’s Journey into Night and Julius Caesar, he made his West End debut in A Passage to India from 20 April to 3 December 1960 at the Comedy Theatre, running for 302 performances.
Zia Mohyeddin made his film debut in Lawrence of Arabia (1962), playing the role of Tafas (the Arab guide who is shot by Omar Sharif for drinking water from the wrong well). He then made numerous TV and film appearances. As an actor, he worked for nearly 47 years in the United Kingdom.
In 1970, he return to Pakistan and presented the now legendary Zia Mohyeddin Show on PTV. Later, he accepted the post of director at the PIA Arts Academy. In 2005, Zia Mohyeddin set up NAPA in Karachi. In 2012, he was honoured with the Hilal-i-Imtiaz for art.
He is also the author of three books: A Carrot is a Carrot, Theatrics and The God of My Idolatry Memories and Reflections.

People from the different wake of life expressed grief over Zia Mohyeddin’s death. Showbiz Personalities calling it the end of an era.
President Dr. Arif Alvi also expressed grief and called the actor’s death a “personal loss”.
Premier Shehbaz, in a statement, said Mohyeddin’s unique style earned fame all over the world, including Pakistan.
“Mohyeddin introduced a new dimension to television hosting in Pakistan,” the premier said, adding that Mohyeddin earned a good name for the country. He praised Mohyeddin’s role in training budding artists in his capacity as NAPA’s president.
Paying tribute to his services, PM Shehbaz said Mohyeddin’s voice will continue to resonate in our minds.
Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb also sent her heartfelt condolences to the late thespian’s family.
Former prime minister Imran Khan said he was saddened to learn of the passing of Mohyeddin and shared that he knew the legendary icon for decades. “He was a highly cultured person, extremely well read, especially] in Urdu literature and an institution in the world of entertainment. He will be missed. My condolences & prayers go to his family,” Khan tweeted.
