 Pakistan Army launches Grand Military Operation against TTP Terrorists.

According to Miltariy Media Wing ISPR, On Wednesday Security forces shot dead 12 terrorists of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat.

In a statement, ISPR said the operation was conducted on the information of terrorists’ presence in Lakki Marwat. The security forces met a shootout with the terrorists when they were fleeing the area in a vehicle.

In the encounter, 12 terrorists were killed, the ISPR said, and added weapons and Afghan currency were recovered in a huge amount from their custody.

The statement of the Military Media Wing further said that the tribal leaders of the area have lauded the action of the security forces for eliminating the terrorists from the area.

The move to launch Grand Operation against Terrorists came after the increase in the rate of terrorist attacks has been observed.

Corps Conference

Earlier this week Army Chief Gen Asim Munir chaired the 255th Corps Commander Conference to make a strategy in order to cope with the TTP Terrorist attack.

According to Military Media Wing ISPR, During the meeting, the Military commanders were briefed in detail about prevailing and emerging threats against the backdrop of the resurgence of terrorism in the country.

The PakArmy’s top officials were also briefed on the ongoing intelligence-based operations being undertaken by Army and law enforcement agencies for breaking the nexus between terrorists and their support mechanism across the country.

COAS Gen Asim Munir directed all Corps commanders to continue to focus on anti-terrorism operations in coordination with intelligence and law enforcement agencies until the time we achieve sustainable peace.

Defence Minister Indication

After the suicide blast in Peshawar’s Police Lines Mosque, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif hoped that Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif would take steps for a Zarb-e-Azb-like operation against the ‘Rising Terrorism’ in the country.

While Talking to journalists inside Parliament House, the Defence Minister indicates to conduct a Zarb-e-Azb-like operation against the ‘rising terrorism’ in the country.

Defence Minister said National Security Committee (NSC) will decide on launching the operation against the terrorists in the country. “The National Security Committee is the authorized forum to take such decisions”, he added.

The Minister claimed that the Peshawar blast was ‘the same tragedy’ as the APS attack, saying that all political parties were united at the time of the APS tragedy. “Currently, the nation needs a consensus despite all the differences”, he stressed.

The Defence Minister’s statement came a day after a powerful explosion triggered by a suicide attacker in Peshawar’s Police Lines Mosque during the Zuhr prayers.

After the Peshawar Mosque Suicide Attack, Government put the High Alert in sensitive cities of the country. Islamabad police have put the security of the federal capital on high alert.

According to details, the Islamabad Capital Territory police tightened security at the entry and exit points of the federal capital.  Inspector General of Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan issued orders to put security on high alert in the federal capital.

Police officials instructed the citizens of Islamabad to keep important documents with them including computerized national identity cards (CNICs) besides appealing to the residents to corporate with the on-duty cops during the checking process.

Snipers and bomb disposal squads have also been deployed at important points and buildings.
