The Arrest warrant was issued by Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana.
In 2019, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for awarding a multi-billion rupee import contract for LNG in 2013 when he was the Minister for petroleum and natural resources.
Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Miftah Ismail, ex-PSO MD Imranul Haq, and others are facing charges of corruption over awarding an LNG import contract allegedly at exorbitant rates in 2015, which caused a big loss to the national exchequer.
Abbasi Resigns from his Party
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been continuously making anti-government statements for the past few days, due to which he has also been asked to resign from the party post.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail have continuously criticized the PML-N’s style of government, on the basis of which they are also facing pressure from the party leadership.
According to sources Shahid Khanqan Abbasi was not happy with the party leadership’s decision to appoint Nawaz Sharif’s Daughter Maryam Nawaz as the senior vice president and chief organizer of the Party PML-N.
Credible Sources in PML-N also claimed that “Shahid Khaqan had also serious differences with the party’s policies for a long time”. Sources said that he was disappointed over the PML-N’s behavior with former finance minister Miftah Ismail.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was offered a ministry or other office in the Shehbaz Sharif cabinet after Imran Khan’s government was de-seated with a vote of no confidence by the PDM but he denied to accept any Ministry.
