The police will conduct the test on the spot through a digital alcohol tester. If caught, legal proceedings against the driver will be initiated under Motor Vehicle Ordinance. The culprit could face up to 6 months of jail time along with the fine. The new initiative has been launched on major roads of Lahore, i.e., Mall, Jail, and Canal Road.

In a recent interview with the media, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Dr. Assad Malhi, revealed that the latest initiative stemmed from cases in which intoxicated drivers lost control which led to major accidents.
