On the directions of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, 200 leaders and workers will surrender themselves for the ‘Jail Bharo Movement’ today. Former Punjab governor Umar Cheema, Senator Walid Iqbal, former Punjab minister Murad Raas, PTI ticket holders Muhammad Madni and Fawad Bhalar and others will surrender themselves in the first phase.
Taking to Twitter, former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that the PTI is set to start the Jail Bharo Tehreek for two main reasons.
“One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the attack on our constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights. We are facing sham FIRs and NAB cases, custodial torture, attacks on journalists and social media people,” wrote the PTI chief.
“Two, it is against the economic meltdown brought on by cabal of crooks who have money laundered billions in looted wealth & gotten NROs for themselves,” Imran Khan said, adding that the government’s policies have crushed the poor and middle class “under the burden of spiraling inflation & rising unemployment”.
In a video message shared on PTI’s official Twitter account, Imran Khan urged people to take to the streets for “true freedom”.
Remember that The PTI chief, in the wake of sedition cases filed against his party leaders including Fawad Chaudhry, Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gill, had announced the movement on 4th February 2023.
