Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan’s Nikah with Bushra Riaz who is better known as Bushra Bibi was solemnised twice, Mufti Saeed told Islamabad court.
A district and sessions court in Islamabad took up the petition seeking action against former premier Imran Khan for marrying Bushra Bibi during her “Iddat” days.
“Iddat” is the period a woman must observe after the death of her husband or after a divorce, during which she may not marry another man.

According to Mufti Saeed, The first nikah was cancelled, because it was performed during Bushra Bibi’s iddat (the time a woman goes into isolation after her husband dies or divorces her).
However, the mufti had to solemnise it once more as soon as he learned about the circumstance, despite his claim that he was unaware of it. He said, “I declared it null and void and performed the nikah once more in accordance with Islamic beliefs.
In 2018, the former premier tied the knot with Bushra Bibi after divorce from her former husband Khawar Farid Maneka.
During the course of proceedings on Wednesday, Mufti Saeed, who solemnized the marriage of former prime minister Imran Khan, recorded his statement with the district and sessions court.
In his statement, Mufti claimed that Imran contacted him over the phone on 1st January 2018, asking him to solemnize his marriage with Bushra Bibi.
“Imran Khan took him to a house in DHA Lahore where I asked a woman who introduced herself as Bushra Bibi’s sister about solemnisation of Nikah as per Shariah.
He told the court that the woman told him that all the conditions for Bushra Bibi’s marriage is according to Shariah.
On the woman’s assurance, Mufti Saeed solemnized the Nikah on January 1, 2018.
Saeed further claimed Imran Khan contacted him again in February that year, requesting him to solemnise his Nikah with Bushra again on the pretext that the first time her iddat had not been completed.
Imran Khan himself said the first nikah was illegal, Mufti Saeed told the court.
The court then adjourned further proceedings till 19th April .
The news about the former PM’s third Nikah was first broken by a senior correspondent with The News Umar Cheema, who said that the Nikah first took place on 1st January 2018. However, the party had denied the report at that time.
The PTI later confirmed that Imran Khan proposed marriage to a woman named Bushra.
Umar Cheema said that Imran Khan married Bushra when she was observing Iddat. In his report, the journalist said that to hide the fact about Bushra’s Iddat, pictures were released on 18th February 2018.
To hide his lie, Umar Cheema claimed that Imran Khan appealed to Mufti Saeed to not give any statement to the media persons at that time.
He further said that Khan told Mufti Saeed that he has to maintain the PTI chief’s integrity under any condition, to which the latter said that the former PM shouldn’t stop him from giving a statement as he agreed to keep the secret.
He also said that he was kept in the dark regarding the matter. It is to mention here that Bushra’s former in-laws, divorce took place on 14th November 2017, which was confirmed by Bushra’s friend Farah Jabeen and the Iddat was completed on 14th February 2018.

They have two sons from the marriage Sulaiman Isa Khan (born 1996) and Kasim Khan (born 1999). The marriage ended in divorce in 2004. In early 2015, Khan announced his second marriage to the British Pakistani journalist Reham Khan. The marriage lasted nine months and ended in divorce on 30 October 2015. In 2018, he married Bushra Maneka, who was previously his spiritual mentor.
