Famous singing sensation Shakira highlighted that Iran’s footballer, Amir Nasr is facing the death penalty for supporting women’s rights and ‘basic freedom.’
Minutes before the beginning of the FIFA world cup final match, Shakira wrote, ‘Today at the final of the World Cup, I only hope the players on the field and the whole world remembers that there’s a man and fellow footballer called Amir Nasr, on death row, only for speaking in favor of Women’s rights.’
Earlier Irani Footballer Azadani was arrested in connection to the deaths of three security personnel during protests in Isfahan and accused of waging war against God, according to Iran’s ISNA news agency.
Nasr will reportedly be executed for protesting the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who died after being beaten by morality police over an alleged hijab-wearing violation.
The 26-year-old Iranian league footballer is among at least 27 other Iranians facing death sentences in connection to the protests that have engulfed the country for almost three months.
