A district court in Rawalpindi granted bail to Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed in a case registered against him by Murree police for threatening a law enforcement officer during his arrest.
Murree Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Zeeshan approved the bail of the former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed against the surety bonds worth Rs50,000.

It should be noted that a case was registered against Sheik Raseed a close Political friend of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan under the provisions of interfering with state affairs after he attempted to tear a policeman’s uniform during his arrest in the wee hours of 2nd February.
The move comes to a couple of days after the district and sessions court turned down his bail petitions in a case related to baseless allegations at former president Asif Ali Zardari for making a plan to assassinate Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.
Remember that is currently at the Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand in another case registered against him for levelling allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari.
Sheikh Rasheed Arrest
Former Federal Interior Minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was taken into custody by Punjab police in Rawalpindi in the early hours of 1st February.
His Nephew Rashid Shafiq said that a heavy contingent of Police along with black vigo reached the residence of AML chief Sheikh Rashid located in a private housing society of Rawalpindi and arrested him. He also alleged that police have not informed the family in which case Sheikh Rashid has been taken into custody.
It is to be pertinent here that Sheikh Rasheed is booked under three sections — 120B (criminal conspiracy), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief).

According to the Police officials, a bottle of liquor and a weapon has been recovered from Sheikh Rashid’s possession. Police claimed that Sheikh Rasheed has been arrested in a state of intoxication.
After his arrest, Police Shifted Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed to Abpara Police Station Islamabad.
Sources said that PPP’s Rawalpindi Division President Raja Inayat-ur-Rehman had filed a case against the former federal minister in Islamabad’s Aabpara police station for the baseless allegations at former president Asif Ali Zardari for making a plan to assassinate Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.
