Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehryar Afridi arrested by capital police in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to Islamabad Police, the former federal minister was taken into custody from Islamabad’s Sector F-8 under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public order (3MPO).

Shehryar Afridi’s arrest comes amid the ongoing crackdown on the PTI leadership, activists and supporters in connection to the 9th May violent protests.
Earlier PTI Senior leadership including Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar, Ali Muhammad Khan, Ejaz Chaudhry, Yasmeen Rashid, Shireen Mazari arrested after the case registered against them following the 9th May attacks on the state institutions.
In Punjab, Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan was also arrested by the Rawalpindi police from Murree Road, Liaquat Bagh. PTI leader was arrested when he was going to the press club from Liaqat Bagh main gate.
Meanwhile, in Sindh, the provincial government declared the house of former PTI minister Ali Zaidi’s house as a sub-jail.
A notification in this regard was issued on Monday night. Ali Ziadi was also arrested on 9th May by Sindh law enforcement agencies following mayhem in the Baloch Colony area.
It is pertinent to mention here that the police have launched a crackdown against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers following the ‘violent protests’ held after the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan in Al-Qadir Trust Case.
Violent clashes broke out across Pakistan after former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was arrested from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.
The protests were held in remote and major cities as the party workers are agitated due to their chairman’s arrest, with Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad summoning the armed forces to ensure law and order.
