Multiple news has been circulated over the Indian media that, Pakistan cricket team might express their preference to play most of their matches in Chennai and Kolkata during the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup.
Indian media quoted source close to the ICC Board who is tracking developments as saying “A lot will depend on what BCCI and the Indian government decide, but given a choice, Pakistan will like to play most of its World Cup matches in Kolkata and Chennai.”

The source also noted that “In Kolkata, Pakistan played its T20 World Cup game against India in 2016, and the players were very happy with the security. Similarly, Chennai as a venue remains memorable for Pakistan. It’s also about feeling safe at specific venues.”
This is a change from earlier reports, which had indicated that Pakistan would be playing their World Cup matches in Bangladesh.
The discussions are currently ongoing between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on this matter, with a decision expected to be made in the best interest of all participating teams. The PCB has earlier recommended the ICC hold the matches at a neutral venue as ACC has already agreed to stage India’s matches outside Pakistan for the Asia Cup.
Remember that Asia Cup 2023 scheduled to Played in Pakistan and as usual India making lame excuses by saying that Indian Team will not Travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup due to security reasons.
Pakistan decided that Asia Cup will not be shifted to a neutral venue meanwhile Indian cricket board excuses itself to send its team to Pakistan for Asia Cup.
Keeping the whole situation in view Pakistan also refused to send its team and demands a neutral venue for World Cup 2023 which is scheduled to be played in India.
