Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur has been arrested in Dera Ismail (DI) Khan following a five-hour-long standoff outside the court’s premises.
According to details, the police arrested the PTI leader from the premises of Peshawar High Court Dera bench. Ali Amin voluntarily surrendered to the police outside the Peshawar High Court, DI Khan bench where he went to secure bail in the cases registered against him on different charges including terrorism.

The police team headed by District Police Officer (DPO) Dera shifted Ali Amin Gandapur to an unknown location. The former federal minister was present in the premises of High Court for almost 5 hours.
“I don’t know anything[about FIRs] [first information reports]… they are saying that the FIRs are registered against me and my arrest is required,” he said while speaking to the media before his arrest.
The PTI leader claimed that the police were arresting him “illegally” and also carried out raids at his residence.
Gandapur said he voluntarily surrendered to the authorities because he did not want to cause any mayhem at the court premises.
PTI Chief Condemns Gandapur Arrest
PTI chief Imran Khan has condemned the arrest of his party leader, saying, “complete law of the jungle prevails in Pakistan”.
“PDM & handlers have a one point agenda – that is to go after PTI workers & leadership. It was decided preemptively to arrest Ali Amin Gandapur despite bails. But they will still be decimated in the elections InshaAllah,” he wrote on his Twitter handle while posting the video of Gandapur’s counsel.
In the video, the PTI leader’s lawyer said district police officer (DPO) told the sessions judge that they had to arrest Gandapur “at all cost whether there is any case against him or not”.
The counsel further claimed that the DPO was ready to face the contempt notice when the judge informed him that Gandapur had been granted bail.
Earlier in April, DPO Bhakkar said that the arms seized at Dajjal check post were destined to Zaman Park residence of PTI chairman Imran Khan.
District Police Officer Mohammad Naveed said that the accused were intending to shift the arms to Lahore in the name of a private security company.
“The security company provided licenses of 13 rifles, all of which were issued by the government of Balochistan,” police chief said. “A letter has been written to the home department for verification of these licenses,” he further said.
However, licenses of nine rifles were not provided, he said. “Arrested accused Ijaz has confessed that the unlicensed arms were destined to Zaman Park,” DPO said. “Accused Ijaz also confessed that the arms were kept at the place of Ali Amin Gandapur,” he added.
In light of the incident, the police later registered a case under 13 provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including terrorism.
In the FIR, the police stated Gandapur reached the Dajal checkpoint with other vehicles and when they were stopped, the PTI leader Gandapur and his men fled after opening firing on Police.
