A severe shortage of the widely used drug paracetamol has hit the country with the high demand for the drug due to rising dengue cases.
Paracetamol is manufactured in Pakistan by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and is sold under the brand name Panadol. In recent weeks the demand for the drug has increased due to rising dengue & Covid-19 cases.
There’s an outbreak of diseases after devastating floods & further increasing the demand for medicines that protect from fever & coughing. The shortage of Panadol is countrywide and patients are struggling to get hold of the drug. Similarly, the drug holder also increases the price of medicines. Regulatory bodies start taking action against the shortage of drugs on the market.
