In a surprise move by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allies, Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi to obtain a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly today.
The Punjab Assembly’s session was chaired by Speaker Sibtain Khan, and after a gap of two the session was resumed once again. According to Sources the PTI government made a surprise move and decided to take the vote of confidence for the Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi.

In a surprise move, PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said in a Twitter message that PTI and its allies completed the number of 187 lawmakers in the Punjab Assembly ahead of the vote of confidence.
Sources said that Speaker Sibtain Khan chairing the session is now obtaining the trust vote from the lawmakers. All PTI and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) lawmakers reached the assembly hall. CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi also reached Punjab Assembly.
During the session, the opposition lawmakers gathered before the speaker’s dice. The speaker said that the quorum is complete and the government lawmakers are in majority.
The speaker also offered the opposition MPAs to recount the number of lawmakers present in the assembly hall. Later, the opposition requested the PA speaker to adjourn the session for the dinner break. The Session will be again resumed after the 30mins Dinner Break.
Earlier Lahore High Court said in its verdict that Governor Punjab can ask CM to take a Vote of Confidence.
A five-member bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh, Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Justice Asim Hafeez, and Justice Muzamil Akhtar Shabir heard Pervaiz Elahi’s plea.
Lahore High Court’s Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh remarked on Wednesday that the Governor can ask a chief minister to take a vote of confidence from the Assembly.
During today’s proceedings, Pervaiz Elahi’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar said that the governor cannot ask the Chief Minister to take a Vote of Confidence as his rights are limited.
At this Justice Asim Hafeez remarked that the Governor can ask a Chief Minister to take a vote of confidence from the Assembly.
“Chief Minister should always have the support of 186 members.”
Now Latest Reports from Punjab Assembly are that the Punjab Assembly session has been resumed after the Dinner break and the Doors of the Punjab Assembly hall have been closed as the Bells start ringing in Assembly.
CCPO Lahore also reached the Punjab Assembly and the Security of the Assembly also beefed up in order to maintain law and order.
