World Richest Person Owner of Twitter Elon Musk said that the social media giant will delete 1.5 billion inactive accounts with log-in for years to free space for names.
Elon Musk announces that the popular social media platform will soon delete up to 1.5 billion accounts to free space for names.
“These are obvious account deletions with no tweets and no log-in for years,” Musk added, taking to Twitter. However, the Tesla and SpaceX owner clarified that only those accounts will be deleted that have “no tweets and no log in for years”.
The move came just hours after Elon Musk announced that in a few weeks, they would release a ‘count show’ feature for tweets, similar to the one on videos.
Earlier Elon Musk said that apple threatened to block the social network (Twitter) from its App Store without explanation and mostly had stopped advertising on Twitter.
The Billionaire CEO of Twitter and Tesla in a tweet said Apple was pressuring Twitter over content moderation demands. The action, unconfirmed by Apple, would not be unusual as the company has routinely enforced its rules and previously removed apps such as Gab and Parler.
Popular with US conservatives Parler was restored by Apple in 2021 after the app updated its content and moderation practices, the companies said at the time.
“Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?,” Musk, who took Twitter private for $44 billion last month, said in a tweet. He later tagged Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook’s Twitter account in another tweet, asking “what’s going on here?”
Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
