Punjab Caretaker Sports Minister Wahab Riaz announced a huge cash prizes for the Sports athletes in order to high-up their moral and spirit.
The statement came just before the upcoming 34th National Games 2023 that is scheduled to be held in Quetta next month.

Wahab Riaz, in a statement, said that players representing Punjab in the grand event of National Games would be given cash prizes. Revealing prize money details, he said that in individual competitions, gold medalists would be given Rs 500,000, silver medalists Rs250,000 and bronze medal winners Rs100,000, respectively.
“In team event competitions, gold medalists will be given Rs1 million, silver medalists Rs500,000 and bronze medal winners Rs250,000 respectively,” he added.
Wahab Riaz urged the provincial athletes to work hard for the upcoming mega event. “The huge cash prizes will definitely be a big attraction to motivate the Punjab players. Steps are being taken to promote sports culture in Punjab,” he added.
Sports Minister further said that the welfare of the players is among the top priorities. “Such big cash prizes have never been given in the history of province”.
Earlier Pakistani Pacer Wahab Riaz officially took charge as Advisor to Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab on Sports and Youth Affairs at the National Hockey Stadium.
Secretary Sports Punjab Shahid Zaman and DG Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi welcomed Wahab Riaz and briefed him about sports matters.
On this occasion, Wahab Riaz said that all possible steps will be taken for the development of sports. Wahab Riaz said that youth should participate in sports activities as much as possible, sports bring discipline to life.
“We will make sure to utilize all the resources and take all stakeholders on board,” he added. Wahab was appointed as sports minister in Punjab’s caretaker cabinet in the last week of January. However, he had not taken the oath of his office because of his commitment to the Pakistan Super League season 8.
