Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif condemned the act of desecration of the Holy Quran by a right-wing extremist in Sweden.
In a tweet, Premier Shehbaz said no words are enough to adequately condemn the horrible act.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said the garb of the freedom of expression cannot be used to hurt the religious emotions of 1.5 billion Muslims across the world. He said this act is unacceptable.
Earlier, the foreign office of Pakistan also strongly condemned the abhorrent act of desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Mumtaz Zahra Baloch issued a statement saying that this provocative Islamophobic act hurts the religious sensitivities of over 1.5 billion Muslims around the globe.
She said such actions are not covered under any legitimate expression of the right to freedom of expression or opinion, which carries responsibilities under international human rights law.
It is to be mentioned here that On Saturday, Rasmus Paludan, leader of the Danish far-right party Stram Kurs (Hard Line), burned the Holy Quran outside the Turkish Embassy in Sweden.
After this act, World Muslim leaders start to show their anger and starts condemning the Desecration of the Holy Book.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the vile attack on our holy book … permitting this anti-Islam act, which targets Muslims and insults our sacred values, under the guise of freedom of expression is completely unacceptable,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry had said.
Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, OIC, and Turkey also condemned the Islamophobic act.
