Ishaq Dar has sworn as the new federal finance minister of Pakistan. Earlier he took the oath as a senator following his return to Pakistan from London where he lived for five years in self-imposed exile.
President Arif Alvi took the oath of Ishaq Dar in a brief ceremony held at President House in the capital Islamabad. It’s the fourth time Ishaq Dar has been given the Portfolio as Finance Minister.
Ishaq Dar, Gold Medalist from the University of Punjab and chartered accountant by profession were given the position after Miftah Ismail step-downs from the seat of Finance Minister.
While talking to Media after Taking oath Ishaq Dar said “I have returned to my country by the grace of God. I will try my best to pull Pakistan out of the economic maelstrom it is surrounded with,” He also said that “We will control inflation. We will bring interest rates down,”
