Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur recommended PCB to retain Babar Azam as the captain of the national team till ICC World Cup 2023 that is scheduled to be played in October-November in India.
National cricket team director Mickey Arthur told PCB that the Green Shirts can win the mega event under the captaincy of Babar Azam.

According to reports, Mickey Arthur holds meeting with PCB chairman Najam Sethi, chief selector Haroon Rashid and Captain Babar Azam.
During his meeting with Najam Sethi, the former head coach, who believed in Babar as a Test player despite all the criticism during his previous stint with the Pakistan team, told the latter that there is no potential option to replace Babar as captain immediately.
He said that the Pakistan team has the capability to win the World Cup under the leadership of Babar. Mickey Arthur also said that the current team has several match-winners, they just need proper guidance.
In his director role, Mickey Arthur will be involved in designing, formulating and overseeing strategies behind the Pakistan men’s team.
Rememebr that Mickey Arthur is a South African-Australian former cricketer. 54-year-old Arthur served as Pakistan’s coach from May 2016 to August 2019.
During his tenure Pakistan became No.1 Test team in 2016 and won the Champions Trophy in 2017. Mickey Arthur’s efforts also supported Pakistan win T20 in 2018.
