The opposition parties, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), have submitted a No-Trust motion against Punjab chief minister, speaker, and deputy speaker to the provincial assembly’s secretariat.
The opposition parties in Punjab have submitted a no-trust motion against Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, PA Speaker Sibtain Khan, and Deputy Speaker Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi.
According to sources The PML-N and PPP lawmakers reached the Punjab Assembly today to submit the no-confidence motion.
Reports in local media said Punjab Assembly Secretary Inayatulalh formally received the no-trust notice which was moved under Article 136 of the Constitution read with Rule 23 of the Rules of Procedure Provincial Assembly of Punjab (PAP) 1997.
The latest Reports are that Governor Punjab asked Pervaiz Elahi to take the vote of confidence. An official document issued by Governor Punjab in which it was mentioned that The CM of Punjab to Obtain a vote of confidence in terms of Article 130(7).
The development comes as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with his party leadership at his residence in the provincial capital to chalk out a strategy to foil PTI chief Imran Khan’s final move of dissolving assemblies in Punjab and KP.
Remember that PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced on Saturday that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies will be dissolved by next Friday (23 December 2022).
Addressing a public gathering at the Liberty Chowk in Lahore, he thanked Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and KP CM Mahmood Khan for backing his decision. He said, “After disbanding the assemblies, we will start preparing for new elections”.
“Our struggle for transparent elections in the country will continue,” he said, adding that only a clear majority empowered a government to take drastic measures to drive the country out of the crisis.
