Islamabad The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority( PEMRA) Monday issued a fresh warning to television channels to refrain from telecasting any content against the state institutions.
The nonsupervisory body directed any content either recorded or produced under the channels’ banner or vented during a live speech or a press talk against institutions shouldn’t be vented.
PEMRA, in its statement, said that despite repeated directives, television channels continue to violate them.
” There remains no nebulosity in our minds with respects to the laxity of the agents in icing compliance with the law of Conduct and of PEMRA as a nonsupervisory authority in penalising agents on account of any violations of the law of Conduct,” read the statement.
still, the law of Conduct will be reduced to a bare paper barracuda and be rendered absolutely spare,” If voluntary violations of the Code of Conduct or indeed negligence by the agents to insure adherence thereto isn’t penalised by PEMRA. We, thus, issue a writ of mandamus to PEMRA to insure that the following parameters laid down in the law and the law of Conduct are stuck to in letter and spirit and that no violations thereof shall be permitted by PEMRA.”
