President Arif Alvi has signed the summary to appoint Lt. Gen Asim Munir as the new Chief of Army Staff
He will take charge of the Pakistan Army at the General Headquarters’ change-of-command ceremony on the 29th of November 2022.
Now Lt Gen Asim Munir is the new Army chief and Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza is the next Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC). It is being reported that President Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be holding meetings with both new appointees shortly.
Earlier Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif picked Lt. Gen. Asim Munir to replace outgoing General Qamar Javed Bajwa as the new Army Chief of the Country. Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been appointed chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee.
“The Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has decided to appoint Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of the Army Staff using his constitutional authority,” information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb tweeted.
A summary of this has been sent to the President of Pakistan. President Arif Alvi holds the meeting with PTI Chairman Imran khan in Lahore and discusses the matter regarding the appointment of a new Chief. Now a few minutes ago President Arif Alvi officially signed the summary to appoint Lt Gen Asim Munir as the New Army Chief of Pakistan.
Summary after signing by the president send it back to the Prime Minister’s house after which it will be sent to the Ministry of Defence and GHQ.
Remember that current Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa going to retire by 29th November 2022 after completing his 6-year tenure. The formal ceremony of handing on command will be held at GHQ on 29th November where Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa handed over the command of the Pakistan Army to the newly appointed Army Chief.
