Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam is to be honored with Pakistan’s Highest Civil Award Sitara-e-Imtiaz on the 23rd of March.
Babar Azam will receive civil awards on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence. Babar Azam adds another crown on his shoulder and becomes the youngest Pakistani cricketer to receive Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Meanwhile, Pakistan women’s captain Bismah Maroof will receive Tamgah-e-Imtiaz. And Blind cricketer Masood Jan will receive the Pride of Performance award.
President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi conferred Pakistan civil awards on 253 Pakistani citizens as well as foreign nationals on the occasion of the 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of the country.
The citizens were bestowed with awards for showing excellence and courage in different fields. The investiture ceremony of these awards will take place on Pakistan Day, March 23, 2023.
Babar Azam has already broken many batting records in different formats for Pakistan and he is currently in the Top 5 in ICC Rankings of all three formats.
In his captaincy, Pakistan defeated India in a World Cup for the first time in 2021 and he also led Pakistan to the final of the World Cup and Asia Cup in 2022.
Earlier Babar Azam was named for the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year Award for a second consecutive year.
The star batter scored 679 runs from nine matches at an average of 84.87 with three centuries in 2022. Babar Azam was also honored with ICC captain of the ICC ODI Team of the year 2022.
Due to his outstanding performance in the ODI 50-over format and crossed the fifty-plus score eight times and converted three of those into centuries. Babar finished the year with a stunning average of 84.87.
“There were match-winning knocks, spell-binding stroke-play, and memorable moments from a personal perspective and his team in 2022 as Pakistan skipper Babar Azam claimed ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year Award for a second consecutive year,” a statement released by the international cricket council.
“And it wasn’t just from an individual level that Babar thrived, with the Pakistan captain also leading his team with aplomb and to just one loss throughout the year,” it added.
