Newly appointed Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Muneer and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza called on President Dr. Arif Alvi at President house Islamabad.
The meetings held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr focused on professional matters pertaining to the Army. During the meeting, the country’s security situation was discussed.
The President congratulated the Army Chief and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee on officially taking the charge of the office.
Later on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Muneer also met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Prime Minister congratulated the Army Chief on taking the charge as new Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army.
He said becoming head of the Pakistan Army was a great honor. It was a blessing of the Almighty Allah that the Pakistan Army had got a head of high caliber of professional capability.
The prime minister expressed the belief that under his leadership, professionalism and capabilities for defence of the motherland of the Pakistan Army would be further enhanced.
While important issues related to national security were discussed in the meeting. The meetings held here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and Prime Minister House focused on professional matters pertaining to the army where strategies have also been made that how to cope with the challenges that the region is facing.

The Outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa officially hand over the “Baton of Command” known as Command of Pakistan Army to newly appointed COAS General Asim Munir, who was chosen to lead the country’s sentinels by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on 24th November 2022.
The passing of the Baton from an outgoing COAS to an incoming one conveys the cardinal message to the troops the military leadership continues without a break in command.
With the change of command, Gen Munir has become the 17th army chief of the Pakistan Army. The baton was handed over to the new chief of army staff at a ceremony held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
