Anti-corruption department is keeping an eye on the case while the government has completed an inquiry against him. The former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader is alleged to have recruited 200 people in the assembly when he was the speaker of the House and when he became Chief Minister.
According to ACE sources, the investigation into this matter is nearing completion, and Elahi has already evaded three call-up notifications. He had yet to show up in person or send a response to the notices through his attorney, though.
After the investigation is finished, a case will be filed against the former chief minister of Punjab, and his arrest could then be made in accordance with ACE’s standard operating protocol.
During his terms as speaker of the Punjab Assembly from 2018 to 2022 and from 1997 to 1999, he is accused of illegally hiring about 200 individuals for lower cadre positions in the assembly, ranging from grade 4 to grade 17.
Additionally, Mr Elahi, the current president of the PTI, unlawfully appointed individuals in grade 17 and above.
Remember that On 12th January 2023 , Pervez Elahi, as CM Punjab, signed a summary for the dissolution of the provincial assembly on the directives of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Later, he and his son Moonis Elahi joined Khan’s party following a fallout with his cousin and PML-Q Chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
