On Wednesday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected a petition seeking to declare the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry illegal.
PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry was arrested today after the registration of an FIR against him in Islamabad’s Kohsar police station.

Fawad Chaudhry was presented in the court in the evening, where Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh rejected the plea filed by PTI challenging his arrest by saying that earlier it was a habeas corpus case but now that the FIR is registered, the arrest doesn’t fall in the category of habeas corpus.
Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh also told that his client’s arrest was not “illegal” as the police had followed the rules and procedures required for detaining the former minister.
Fawad Chaudhury Arrest
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry was arrested by Islamabad Police from his residence on charges of ‘threatening’ Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members.
A case against former Minister Fawad Chaudhary was registered last night at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad on the complaint of Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Omer Hamid Khan.
Sources said that Fawad Chaudhry was picked up by people without number plates cars early this morning, at 5:40 am.
The FIR was lodged against him for using unethical and ‘threatening’ language against the ECP and its members. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Fawad Chaudhry in his media talk outside Imran Khan’s residence in Lahore, threat the ECP, its members, and their families.
Remember that The PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has been booked under sections 153-A (promotion of enmity between groups), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief), and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The FIR states that Fawad Chaudhary said that the status and power of the election commission were reduced to that of a “Munshi [clerk]”.
Fawad Chaudhry Presented before Court
After Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest, in the morning PTI leader presented before a local Court in Lahore on charges of using unethical and ‘threatening’ language against the ECP and its members.

According to the latest reports, The PTI leader was presented before the court of judicial magistrate Rana Mudassir in Lahore’s Cantt by the Islamabad Police in tight security to seek a transitory remand to transfer the former federal minister to the federal capital (Islamabad).
At the hearing, the lawyers of Fawad Chaudhry objected to handcuffing the former minister. Police should tell on what ground my client has been taken into custody, Chaudhry’s lawyer said in his arguments before the court.
He also went on to say there was no need for transit remand. The court ordered police for a medical examination of Fawad Chaudhry and said there is no need for transit remand.
For which Judge remarked He can be shifted to Islamabad after a medical examination.
In a short media talk, the arrested PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said security had been placed in a way as a “terrorist” was being brought to court, adding that he was unaware of the charges levelled against him. He also urged people to take to the street against the government. He said former South Africa president Nelson Mandela had also been booked in a sedition case.
