An earthquake of 5.6 intensity jolted Peshawar, Kohat, and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), the earthquake’s epicenter was 237km away from Chitral in the west. The earthquake’s depth was 190 km and its magnitude on the Richter scale was recorded at 5.6 Intensity.
The Tremors were also felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.
The earthquake jolts were also felt in Battagram, Mohmand, Swat, Charsadda, and other areas of KP. According to Rescue 1122, No loss of life has been reported after the earthquake. It is to be mentioned here that the tremors relatively closer to the surface are likely to bear long-term adverse effects on the buildings.
Last year in December, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 jolted Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.8 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was the Hindu Kash region with a depth of 189 kilometers.
Tremors were also felt in Charsadda, Peshawar, Batgaram, Khyber, Mansehra, and other cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Punjab, the tremors were felt in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupur, Sargodha, Murree, and nearby cities where people came out of their offices and residents out of fear.
