In order to build pressure on the (PDM) coalition government for early elections, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to launch the ‘Election Karao Mulk Bachao’ campaign across the country from 7th December 2022 onwards.
The development came during a meeting of PTI’s lawmakers and office-bearers hailing from Lahore. Party chairman Imran Khan presided over the meeting at his Zaman Park residence on Monday.
Under the first phase of the nationwide drive from 7th to 17th December mass rallies and public gatherings will be held in Lahore. The campaign will kick start with a rally in Hammad Azhar’s constituency in the provincial capital city on 7th December 2022.
According to the reports In the meeting also a plan to prepare for the dissolution of the provincial assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). During the rallies, the coalition government will be criticized for rising inflation, human rights violations, and worsening economic situation, the meeting also decided.
Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry, a senior party leader and close friend of Imran Khan, revealed that the political party will dissolve the two provincial assemblies on 21st December if negotiations failed. He also claimed that the election will be held before the Holy month of Ramadan.
“The time is short and we can not further delay the dissolution of assemblies”, he said in a statement issued here Wednesday. He said PTI wants an election before the holy month of Ramadan till 20 March 2023. On the other side provincial Minister Punjab Aslam Iqbal alleged that the incumbent government is spending money to save the assemblies.
Fawad maintained that the Punjab division of the party is ready for “every attack” from the PML-N. PML-N has stated multiple times that it would not concede to the PTI’s demand for snap polls.
Remember that in a rally at Rawalpindi Imran Khan announced that PTI wouldn’t be part of “this system” and would quit all the assemblies. Following this, PTI members also agreed with the decision to dissolve Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies. However, an official announcement regarding the dissolution is yet to be made.
