A shoe was thrown at the car of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah when he was coming out of the Punjab Assembly after attending a session.
A video circulating on social media shows the minister sitting the front seat with the driver and a flying shoe can be seen hitting the windscreen. The driver stopped the vehicle for a moment and later drove away. No suspect has been arrested so far after the incident.
The incident comes hours after chaos erupted at the gate of the Punjab assembly when federal ministers were stopped from entering the premises but they forced their way inside it as the session was resumed.
Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah along with Special Assistant to Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar and other PML-N leaders stopped from entering Punjab Assembly.
According to details, the police and the Assembly staff stopped the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers and leaders from entering the premises of the Punjab Assembly as Punjab is Under the control of PTI government.
Speaking on the situation, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar said they had been told the federal ministers would not be allowed to enter into Punjab Assembly. “How can they stop the ministers from entering the assembly?”
Later Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah while addressing a press conference with other party leaders, said the security agencies were also told not to let them (PML-N leaders) enter the assembly; however, they refused to follow the “illegal” orders.
“The IG Punjab was also asked to prevent us from entering the building but he refused to implement the orders,” said the PML-N leader, adding they (the Punjab government) were using these tactics because they knew they did not have the numbers for the vote of confidence.
