Saudi Government Imposes complete ban on carrying Holy Zamzam water bottles by passengers’ luggage.
Aab-e-Zamzam is the water from the well of Zamzam, located in Masjid al-Haram, Makkah, which is a miraculously generated source of water as per Islamic history.
The water has great religious significance and people take it back to their countries in great amounts after performing Hajj or Umrah.
Saudi authorities at Jeddah International Airport issued a notification to all private airlines including Pakistan’s PIA.
Only passengers traveling for Umrah or Hajj pilgrimages are allowed to carry only one five-liter bottle of Zamzam water. The other passengers traveling on a visit or business visas, tourists, or other purposes are not allowed to carry Zamzam water to the homeland.
According to the Saudi authorities, the pilgrims will be provided Zamzam water bottles produced under King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Zamzam Water Project.
Administrations of all the airlines have been directed to ensure the order while checking travelers’ luggage.
Passengers coming to Pakistan must undergo a complete screening process., the circular added. All the airlines have been bound to ensure that none of the passengers traveling through Jeddah or any other airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have bottles filled with Aab-e-Zamzam.
