Facebook owner Meta is considering to allow former US President Donald Trump back on to Facebook and Instagram.
The social media giant had previously said it will decide by 7th January 2023 whether to allow the former president to return to Social Media platforms.
According to the sources, the decision is now expected to be announced later in the month.
Meta has set up a working group to focus on the matter, according to people with knowledge of its operations, the report said, adding that the group includes staffers from the public policy and communications teams, as well as from the content policy team.
The development comes after Elon Musk, Twitter’s new owner, lift a permanent ban on Trump in November last year on the social media platform after polling users.
Trump maintained that he had no interest in returning to Twitter. “I don’t see any reason for it,” the former president had said via video when asked whether he planned to return to Twitter by a panel at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting.
Earlier Elon Musk takes over Twitter in a deal. After he overtakes, he fires a top-level executive staff including Twitter CEO. Donald Trump praises his overtake and comments that “I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country,” Trump said on his own Truth Social platform.
