Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed claims that Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi signed the summary for the dissolution of the provincial assembly.
The summary authorizing the dissolution of the Punjab assembly has the date of 23rd December 2022, written on it, he said, speaking on the Private Media TV Show.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will give a share to the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), the former information minister said, adding that the seats of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will be assigned to the PML-Q.
He praised the politics of the PTI, saying the party played the stroke that it was supposed to play. The AML chief Sheikh Rasheed believes that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s homecoming will not benefit the politics of his party.
“Chairman PTI Imran Khan has put an end to the politics of 13 parties in the country,” he said,
The PML-N leaders claim that Nawaz’s return to Pakistan will give the party an advantage in the upcoming elections, Sheikh Rasheed said. He urged Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan and participate in elections.
He reiterated his often-repeated statement that the PTI is the name of Imran Khan. “Everyone else, including me, is in the marathon race,” he added.
Earlier PTI Chairman Imran Khan announces that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies will be dissolved by next Friday (23 December 2022).
Addressing a public gathering at the Liberty Chowk in Lahore, he thanked Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and KP CM Mahmood Khan for backing his decision. He said, “After disbanding the assemblies, we will start preparing for new elections”.
“Our struggle for transparent elections in the country will continue,” he said, adding that only a clear majority empowered a government to take drastic measures to drive the country out of the crisis.
He also lashed out at the chief election commissioner (CEC) for being “dishonest”, adding that attempts would be made to delay the elections in the country. He, however, clarified that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is bound to hold elections within 90 days of the dissolution of the provincial assemblies.
